Timber Windows & Doors
Ron Kirk Joinery are JMF approved installers of wooden windows and doors in Dunedin. JMF stands for the Joinery Manufacturing Federation. Using a JMF approved manufacturer ensures your timber joinery will last in New Zealand climates. This includes the glazing system, and any doors and windows are tested, labelled and certified as complying with New Zealand wind zones.
The benefits of Timber Windows and Doors:
- High thermal resistance – warmer homes can drastically lower energy bills and timber surfaces cut down on condensation (especially when compared to aluminium windows), providing a healthier living environment for you and your family.
- Hardwearing and long-lasting – with a little maintenance, the lifespan of wooden windows and doors can extend to more than 100 years. This can have significant cost savings over the extended life of a home.
- Flexible design – with timber windows and doors there’s more flexibility around customisations, with boxed seating features, timber fitting in well with older colonial homes and a wide range of paint colours and hardware fittings to create the finished look you want, whether retrofitting windows, updating a colonial house or building a new home.
- It’s easier to update the look – If you choose high-quality paints and timbers, it’s a lot simpler to repaint and possibly change the hardware in ten years or so when interior fashions have changed, giving you more flexibility to choose styles, colours and details to keep your home looking up to trend.
- Environmentally friendly – timber windows and doors are made from a renewable resource with a low carbon footprint and a more environmentally friendly option.
